EMMANEL GROUP OF ORPHANS UGANDA (EGO)
Request for Your Support PREAMLE It is in the heart of God to raise orphans and destitute children and we the founder members of EGO Uganda are committed to address this growing need. We know that it is a task we could never accomplish without the helping hand of friends like you. We indeed pray that you will be encouraged to work with us to give these children the future they deserve. EGO is a non-Governmental, Independent Organization founded in Uganda in the year 2003. Our current area of concentration is Kalagala, Kibiito and Kasawo sub counties in the rural parts of Mukono/Kayunga and Kabarole Districts. EGO Uganda is nondenominational and has no formal relationship with any one church but seeks to interact with all bodies and individuals that share the same vision. OUR GOAL The goal for this program is to bring is to bring up orphaned and needy children by finding ways and means of meeting their, physical, spiritual and social needs and reaching out to all the children with love and compassion. The end result is to raise reliable responsible, resourceful and productive citizens through providing and facilitating the education, instruction, training and equipping with skills to the children. THE PROBLEM Today, orphans remain a burden of extended families although most of these are living from hand to mouth and many of them are victims of AIDS themselves. In a situation like that, these families who can hardly take care of their own children, naturally find it almost impossible to take in an extra child. As more family members succumb to AIDS, the problem becomes even more complex. In fact, this scenario has been played out over and over again, so that today we have another unique problem: households headed and managed by children themselves because all grownup relatives have perished. WHAT TO DO To achieve our goal, we employ various means and ways of reaching out to these children. · Teaching, counseling and upbringing of children to make them responsible and productive citizen of Uganda. · Providing and facilitating the education and training of these children in order to equip them with life skills. · Establishing foster homes for those children who are homeless, currently we have encouraged with the relatives and family friends of such children to accommodate them, as they have nowhere else to go. · To provide/facilitate health care for the orphans. · By establishing projects and activities that generate income for the families hence improving the direct benefits to the child. · Sponsorship for School fees and other educational requirements. · Medical care. · Clothing · Family and Community development projects. CURRENT TARGETS 1. To provide education to 200 orphans and destitute children through a sponsorship program by the end of 2008. 2. To work with families to provide shelter for the homeless and food for the needy. 3. To promote health care for those who cannot afford it but are in need of it. 4. To bring healing through counseling to the many traumatized children as a result of AIDS, social conflict and poverty. 5. To establish a sound sponsorship program that benefits the real needy orphans. 6. To empower 50 vulnerable youth with vocational skills to enable them to become self-reliant. 7. To support 30 needy families start a viable income generating activity by the end of 2008 to help them provide for their family needs in future. LIMITATIONS Whereas we strive towards the goal, there are important areas that need to be addressed which if not, our work will be hampered. 1. Inadequate facilitation to reach some really needy children. 2. More than 300 children have been identified so far to be in need of sponsorship. 3. Funds for carrying out various activities and facilitating volunteers. BUDGET AND FINANCING 1.
